Tired Yet?

Podcast Version

Isaiah 40:31—Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

So, are you tired yet? How many late nights have you had? When was the day you realized you were tired of this mess? Some states are “re-opening.” Who knows when Wisconsin will??? I just read that some reports are saying things are still going to get worse before they get better. Now some are saying the beginning of June will be the peak. Are you tired of this yet?

In many ways, I am. Tired of the isolation. Tired of the news. Tired of not being with people to encourage them with God’s Word. Tired of not being able to gather in God’s house. Tired of the masks, the gloves, the hand sanitizer, etc. Are you tired of this yet?

Whether you were tired of it long ago, or you feel just fine about it, each one of us needs to hear these words from our LORD through Isaiah:
Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

When you put your hope in the LORD. When you let his peace rest on your heart. When you set aside what you see and hear in the world and simply cling to God’s Word and promises, your strength is renewed. When you recall that God has promised to use everything for the good of those who love him (Rom. 8:28), the weariness departs and you can carry on. You can carry on knowing that this pandemic will pass one way or another. You can carry on knowing that you have the strong reminder that this world is not your home. When you remember that your eternal home is with the LORD in heaven, your hope and strength are renewed to continue on in this wearisome world, knowing that one day you will have perfect rest. And so, let your hearts soar, run, and walk with the LORD. He is with you.
